The second installment of the north by north project. We are holding it next weekend, Saturday 5/16, in Shimokawa. If you would like to take part, please get in touch via DM.
[Held on 5/16] A Day Facing Wood, Together with Shimokawa Woodworking Artist Kenji Usuda and YASU
In the morning, we shave the wood and bring out its shape.
At lunch, we gather around and eat food made from local ingredients.
In the afternoon, we finish the pieces, and each of us takes home a cutting board born from our own ideas.
The scent of wood drifting through the space. The shape left in your palm, brimming with each person’s individuality. Together with Usuda, who is active as a woodworking artist in Shimokawa, and YASU, adults and children alike take their time to face the wood.
Lunch will be a meal that makes the most of local ingredients, served at Suzume Kitchen.
